Safepac Ltd races ahead with Renault Trucks T High showstopper
Leading Suffolk-based removals company, Safepac Limited, has added the first Renault Trucks T High 6×2 tractor unit to its 47-strong fleet. Supplied by Renault Truck Commercials, the new vehicle forms part of a sponsorship agreement with the McAMS Yamaha team for the 2023 Bennetts British Superbike Championship.
The new T High is being used to transport the McAMS Yamaha team’s spares and tools to the race circuits as well as a hospitality trailer catering for 250 guests. When it’s not on show at the Superbike events, the T High is being put through its paces on military removals for US forces across Europe.
Having previously run a Midlum, this is the first Renault Trucks tractor unit on the Safepac fleet and has been specifically designed to stand out in a crowd. The T High is finished with full cab paint in metallic blue with matching side skirts, mirrors, plastic front screen surround and full chassis infill. LED lamps fitted to the top and lo-bars and Alcoa Dura Bright wheels complete the high-end finish.
Safepac Director, Nick Pearson, comments on the deal:
“Safepac has been working with the McAMS Yamaha Superbike team for four years and, as the vehicle is appearing on TV and in the paddock on race days, I wanted a showstopper of a truck, something that really stands out and showcases our own business.
“It’s not only good looking though, it’s got to be a viable and reliable working haulage truck the rest of the time and it’s got to be up to the job; when it’s not at the Superbikes, it provides a relocation service for the US military as well as working on general haulage.”
The relationship with the dealer was also key to the decision to add Renault Trucks to the fleet as Nick explains:
“I have an excellent working relationship with the Sales Director, Matt Sadler, at Renault Truck Commercials, so he was my first port of call for this special vehicle. The Felixstowe depot was brilliant. The Service Manager, Marc Chetty, and his team were outstanding, working very long hours, nothing was too much trouble, and they got the truck ready in time for the new Superbike season. Maintenance is being carried out at the Felixstowe depot too, where we already do a lot of container haulage work, and the team are like clockwork.”
The new T High with high sleeper cab has been specified with an array of optional extras for driver comfort including TV, microwave, coffee maker, 40L fridge, heated and ventilated luxury driver’s seat, air suspension, luxury cab curtain and bunk, memory foam mattress topper, air conditioning and ultimate leather steering wheel.
Safepac Director, Nick Pearson, concludes:
“The driver has recently returned from an eight-day trip to Italy, returning via Germany and Antwerp. It was a long trip and he loved it; the cab was fantastic. He took his daughter too and said it was extremely comfortable to live in and there was plenty of room for the two of them.
“Although with the nature of the work we’re doing we’re not carrying massive weights, the T High is still very good on fuel, and we’re delighted with the new addition to the fleet.”
